Livingston HealthCare is focused on expanding access to an array of surgical services for our community, keeping care close to home. Over the past two years, Livingston HealthCare has vastly expanded the variety of surgical services it now brings to our community. Livingston HealthCare recently invested in implementing the Da Vinci Robotics and Globus robotic-assisted surgeries. This means smaller incisions, less pain, and a faster recovery time for our patients. Our patients can return to what they enjoy faster! Livingston HealthCare has doubled the capacity for sterilizing surgical equipment, a project that lasted nearly a year and was completed late June 2024. The next step is to expand surgical capacity with an additional operating room. With investments in expansion of surgical services, Livingston HealthCare will double the volume of general and orthopedic surgeries. Livingston HealthCare will be able to expand current services and accommodate new surgical service lines such as cardiology and gynecology oncology and expand current urology, obstetrics/gynecology, ophthalmology, and general surgery capacities. Big city surgical care, right here at home.
Park County's population is increasing, with the largest age group being those aged 75-84 years. This age group has an estimated 32% increase between 2021 and 2026. Additionally, the population of individuals aged 65 and older is expected to grow by 15% during the same period. Livingston HealthCare is dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of our growing community. We believe that advanced healthcare should be accessible without requiring long-distance travel. Providing care close to home has significant financial benefits for the patients and the organization. It reduces travel expenses, minimizes time away from work for patients and caregivers, and allows access to services just minutes away, saving our patients money. That's why LHC continues to evaluate needs and implement meaningful programs and services to meet the requirements of our patients.
Requests for surgical block time at Livingston HealthCare are steadily increasing. With our ability to accommodate inpatient stays, patients undergoing orthopedic spine surgeries, total joint replacements, and other general or emergent surgeries can benefit from seamless pre-and post-operative care. Ensuring our patients' well-being with the convenience of comprehensive care in the same facility. It presents an economically advantageous scenario for Livingston HealthCare. By capitalizing on surgical and inpatient services, we generate revenue and receive reimbursement for ancillary services. This financial support enables us to sustain essential service lines considered loss leaders, such as the Emergency Department, Family Birth Center, and Behavioral Health. As an anchor institution in our community, Livingston HealthCare will continue to ensure organizational stability and meet our community's expanding healthcare needs.
