GivE A HOOT

The Teslow by Project49

About this Organization

Project49 is dedicated to improving the lives of youth in Park County by providing unique spaces for self-expression, recreation and learning. Much like the rec centers of Philadelphia and New York City, we will provide an open environment where kids can drop in and feel safe and engaged in with numerous resources for creating art, learning new skills, and being active.

We are currently working to stand up our new downtown space in the former Educatio building. In August, we will be taking over the lease on that space and reintegrating it into the community as a community art studio and maker space. We will have open hours where the community can drop in and use the facilities and have access to our staff as well as more structured STEAM classes throughout the year.

We are also continuing to work on our flagship project. (Project49 @ the Teslow) is the adaptive reuse of the historic Teslow grain elevator. The vision for the Teslow is to be a "third space" for our community; a place outside of home or work/school where we can come together to recreate, learn new skills, and focus on positive activities. The building is slated to house an indoor playground, maker space, climbing gym, and learning kitchen, as well as being a home base for other community-focused organizations. This year we have succeeded in going under contract with the State of Montana to access a grant that will fund the structural stabilization of the building, ensuring that the Teslow remains a soaring monument to Livingston's past and future. Thanks to a generous donation from Campione, we have also developed architectural plans for a community climbing gym that will occupy the basement and bins of the struture.
