What is a 501(c)(3) Determination Letter

The IRS Determination Letter notifies a nonprofit organization that its application for federal tax exemption under Section 501(c)(3) has been approved. In summary, it confirms that your organization is exempt from federal income tax. Also, it confirms that your donors can claim their contributions to your organization on their annual tax returns.

Organizations seeking to participate in GIVE A HOOT must be able to locate this document or will need to obtain a copy from the IRS if further documentation is requested.
