Creating A Space of Belonging

Fundraiser Story

In 2002, I had the opportunity to participate in a production at what was then the Firehouse 5. That experience truly shaped and saved my life.

I had recently gotten out of Shodair Children's Hospital and was struggling with depression and finding my place in the world. That experience provided a space where I could be myself, where I felt accepted, like I mattered, and where I finally felt like I belonged.

It gave me the chance to be part of something bigger than myself, where this diverse group of people, who in any other situation would probably never interact, came together to create something memorable.

At a crucial point in my life, the Shane Center offered me positive role models and created a place where I forged intergenerational relationships that were transformative. It was not just about the show but about fostering connections, learning important life skills like  accountability, confidence, and empathy, and finding a community.

The impact the Shane Center has on so many youth is profound. By investing in this organization, you help ensure that future generations also have a space where they too can feel like they belong, find their path, and be part of something extraordinary.

Join me in supporting the Shane Center and help us continue to create these life-changing experiences. Your contribution makes a difference.
